Owl Painting

Well, today has been very productive day – with regards to art and blogging. It really is true that the presentation of a blog helps motivate people to hit that follow button. This isn’t the first time I’ll complain about WordPress and their boring blog layouts, but they do have other good features. I have worked hard to make my blog look presentable and functional. With Spring coming, I hope to get a higher daily pageview count.

Meanwhile, I found a beautiful but edited photo of a rainbow owl. Wouldn’t it be amazing if such things really existed? And even though I knew it was never going to turn out quite like the owl in the photograph, I decided to try painting him.

I’ve photographed most of the project–because I can (it might be fun to look back on this someday!) and because maybe some of you will be interested.

Personally I think I should have kept it as a pencil drawing, but I hadn’t set out to draw with pencil! My goal today was to paint!

Even though I am not quite pleased with the outcome, I know that practice does make perfect – or at least it makes things better. Later I’ll try painting the owl again, and hopefully I will be more satisfied with the outcome. For now, I have the experience from this project, and I have something else to put in my folder.

Enjoy!

  1. Oh, I think he is just lovely. The colors are so bright and fun. You’re right though, and practice makes perfect so keep on painting. :)
